God can do the same with a little as He can with a lot! I just need to offer Him my obedience. In 1 Samuel 14: 6 ESV we read:
Jonathan said to the young man who carried his armor, “Come, let us go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised. It may be that the Lord will work for us, for nothing can hinder the Lord from saving by many or by few.
Jonathan is one incredible guy. He’s raised by a man oppressed by a demon, he knows that God has determined to give his birthright (the Kingdom of Israel) to his best friend and he is so chill and in agreement with it!
What’s significant about this particular statement is that in the previous chapter his father, King Saul, exemplified the very opposite of Jonathan’s faith. King Saul was to wait for the prophet Samuel to make the sacrifices. But he was afraid that he was loosing his army, because his men were leaving in the wait. So King Saul disobeyed and offered the sacrifices himself and because of his disobedience the Kingdom was stripped from him.
And here Jonathan states to his armor bearer, “Whether it be many or few, God is able!”
Man I want a faith like Jonathan in the face of opposition, not like King Saul whose disbelief in God led to disobedience. It’s not about who else is on my side or how much is in my bank account, how much sleep I’ve had, or how many degrees I have. God can do the same with a little as He can with a lot!
